The animation shows the stars as they would appear from the exact location you choose on the night or time you choose. It also shows the visible planets, the Moon, and the Milky Way. The video can show either the entire night from sunset to sunrise, or stay fixed at a special time.

The music is created by converting the color and brightness of the stars into music through a process called sonification. We choose from among the stars and constellations that are visible at each moment and use an algorithm to communicate the color and brightness of the stars through sound. The pitch of the notes is determined by the colour and temperature of the stars. Redder stars, which are cooler, produce lower notes while bluer stars, which are hotter, produce higher notes. Brighter stars produce louder notes. Sonifications such as this can help people who are blind or visually impaired experience the night sky.

The 1 minute version costs 9.99USD and the 3 minute version costs 14.99USD. You can pay in any currency you like using major credit cards, PayPal, G Pay, or Apple Pay.

When your video is completed we will send you an email with a single button. Clicking this button will take you to a personal webpage where you can watch and download your video. You can also download an image file containing information about your video so that it can be printed and gifted along with the video.

As you order you'll be able to provide the email of the intended recipient and when you'd like us to send it to them. We'll also send you a copy as soon as the video is ready. You can then forward this email to anyone else. Another option is to copy the address of your personal starry night website and share it as a link. The bottom of your personal webpage will contain buttons to help you share it on Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. If you download it to your device it can then be uploaded to social media. We also offer pre-paid gift cards.

Processing the music and rendering high resolution animations takes time and we are currently unable to provide sample videos for your chosen night and location. You can get a sense of what your video will look and sound like by viewing the sample video posted on our home page.

You will receive an email containing links to your video within 24 hours of when you place your order. If it doesn't arrive please check your spam folders and contact us immediately so that we can resend it.
